The best place to start any research or investigation is … anywhere. I have a pile of papers I’ve carted half way across the globe to pursue this project and honestly, every single page and every single word therein is a lead to the history of one man’s story.
So, parking the overwhelm, pass me the marriage certificate. Dates, names, places. Actually a really good place to start. It will prompt more questions and avenues to investigate while cementing some good facts.
Jean Emile (34) and his English bride, Margaret Humphreys (20) embarked on their life partnership on March 1, 1858 at the Church of St Peter’s Cooks River Road at the Church of England at 11.30am. (Found a blog about the church http://stpeterscooksriverhistory.wordpress.com/).
